My name is Jennifer Farley. I am a digital design lover, founder of Digital Design Cottage training and instructor on a course called "New Media Creative Design" in Dublin, Ireland. What that means is, everyday, I teach adults, aged 17 - 75 how to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, I also teach them some design theory.
This blog is mostly about Photoshop, in particular I'll be sharing tips and tricks and links to sites of interest in the digital design world. A lot of what comes up in the blog will be related to questions asked during the day in the classroom that could be of interest to anyone learning design software.
The Digital Design Cottage site offers a full, in-depth Photoshop course. Subscribing to the course allows you to view videos recorded on my computer as I teach in the classroom. You will learn all of the fundamentals plus many advanced techniques in Photoshop CS2, not to mention lots of extra tips.
A little bit about my background: I have a Bachelors Degree in I.T. and a Masters Degree in Design for Digital Media. I worked for four years as a web designer (I still do some web design work now) and two years as a graphic designer for an e-learning company. For the past four years I have been an Instructor in New Media Creative Design. I'm extremely lucky that I have a job I love - teaching design.
This site is called Digital Design Cottage, because I live in a cottage with my husband in "the sticks" in Ireland. It's not the middle of nowhere, but its near it. I commute every morning by car to the sprawling metropolis that is Dublin.
I hope you find something of interest here and maybe even learn something. The best advice I can give you with Photoshop is practice, experiment and practice some more, but most importantly ENJOY using the program. As well as being a serious image editing tool, it can be great fun.
All the best
Jennifer
